A particular Tate exhibition "Shopping" so infuriated me that I "invaded" it as a Live Art presence at the opening night. After that I would infiltrate Tate openings to "comment" on them until I was, one day, invited, semi-officially, to intervene at one.

At the Opening of “Art, Lies and Videotape” at the Liverpool Tate Gallery, November 2003, Mandy wanders about silently offering to place stickers on the individuals visiting the exhibition. The stickers read variants of “I’m A Famous Performance Artist”. Late she brings out the ”Do-it-Yourself Performance Art Kit”. With this she silently invites individuals to ink their thumb and imprint it on a small piece of paper in the “Kit”. She does the same with her thumb then pulls out the piece of paper and gives it to them. On it will be one of twelve titles such as

“I’m A Rock Chick” – unofficial gallery intervention
In an exhibition (Mike Kelly’s “The Uncanny” – Liverpool Tate Gallery – February 2004) there are many art-simulacra of human forms, including apparent cadavers, which seem ready to emerge from art into life. The Rock Chick (a tribute to Jennifer Herrema of Royal Trux/Pussy Galore, the ultimate Rock Chick) is alive but presents in an immobile state, subsided into a simulacra. At the same time apparently disembodied “uncanny” snatches of audio can be heard from her vicinity.

When the Tate presented "assume vivid astro focus" in the Ground Floor gallery I offered to carry out some live actions for audiences in the space. I called them "always virtually a female". They were improvised to music. I also took advantage of the installation to carry out some personal physical actions which were videoed and photographed.
